"Don't Tell Me"

Poetry By: Christian Taylor
Poetry

Its hard to explain this poem...over the last two weeks I've been dealing with a family emergency that has put everything into perspective. So this is my way of exploring everything without going into specifics. Hopefully, you'll like it!

Don't tell me,

How life is suppose to be,

When it's only as short,

As we live.

Tell me if there's a tomorrow,

When darkness seems to follow us,

Where ever we go.

Don't tell me to stop

Living a life,

When I'm only beginning to understand,

Life to one's fullest.

Please tell me that the rains will dry,

Leaving only happiness in the skies,

For reasons for me to smile.

Don't tell me that love will never come,

When it is possible a soulmate,

Awaits for me to discover?

And will faith guide me?

Tell me how does everything feel like everything,

If we're never satisfied,

Do words even comprehend?

Don't tell me that its all a dream

If it seems real,

Feeling of everything all around,

In the twilight of my mind.

Please tell me its not too late,

For you to see the sincerity in the depths of my eyes,

Wishing a miracle to believe,

Am I crazy to believe?

Don't tell me to be miserable,

As happiness stands in my sights,

Reachable not by will,

But faith.

Tell me why can't we just live?

Times never on our side,

Seek we must, but not waste it,

For it could all end before we knew it.

Please don't tell me to back down,

I'm still standing here,

Looking at the horizon in the distance,

Take my hand and walk with me to the setting sun.

Please tell me that a sunrise will come my way again,

Find my footprints when all seems all sorrow and despair,

To find the happiness again.

Please don't,

Please don't,

Please don't tell me to stop!
