The moonlight night was alive with joy,
As they danced across the sparkling snow.
Black and white coats glistening
The wolves are at play.
Snow flies as they dash and dive,
Snorting and yipping,
Biting and jumping,
They roll around comically,
And snarl playfully.
When all is still,
they stop and stare,
up at the round yellow moon.
Heads tossed back they release their breath,
And sound a mournful tune.
Not one of gloom,
But of closeness, happiness and love .
They sing their song all night long,
Etherial bodies flying above the white powder .
Sinewy muscles flow beneath their thick glossy coats,
As their eyes glow in the darkness,
Full of knowing and light,
In this magical night.
