Distant Lights

Poetry By: cinnabunnyummi

This is a poem about being apart and waiting, not knowing, and the anticipation of hoping.

I'm here thinking of you, where are you
Things words still ring loud and clear?
A posted stamped post card from Rome
In Tokyo, you're so far from home?

A single petal falls in starry Paris skies
While the eiffel tower reflects in your eyes
As your song of simple sighs I reprise
WIth these starless skies
I hit a broken rewind
You feel the world has left you behind
So you sleep under Tokyo nights
Watched over by distant lights

Illusions or dreaming, I see you either way
On the swing set where we used to play;
If I said thank you for those times I'd be lying
Because I can't bear to see them dying;

Are you watching distant planes in london
Or hearing doves in the land of the rising sun?
No matter where you are, you're the one
The reason I am desperate for a rerun;
A lonely butterfly flies over me at home
When you are admiring a cathedral's dome
It's been more than 3 years now
And I am wondering why and how?

The birds are flying south today
I am searching for my own right way
Because with out you things seem to strange
I cry when I think how everything's changed
But I fake a smile
To convince myself you'll be here in a while

When snow falls on the starless nights in Paris
You won't believe how much I miss
They've put up all the Christmas Trees
But you are enjoying a tropical breeze;
A lonely butterfly flies over me at home
When you are admiring a cathedral's dome
You were all along searching for rights
Watched over by those distant lights
