Being young and innocent
It’s strange how things can quickly change
How life can just rearrange
Staying out far past midnight
Seeing everything by the glow of streetlights
We were so impressionable but always right
We had happiness in our sites
Now that we’re older things aren’t so clear
With the things that we choose not to hear
Our decisions are always made from fear
In hopes that our lives will always adhere
From the lies that we see on the news
Submission by fear our freedom we lose
Our privileges, our privacy and the power to choose
To stand up and speak we should not refuse
A country united is what they say
But a world divided is the American way
We close our borders and shut our doors
When the world needs help we wage wars
Our enemies will pay is what we are told
We are quick to judge and are statements are bold
But the lies of our country will one day unfold
Then we will see that we’ve been controlled
But for now we stand, with our eyes wide closed…
