Please Sing Me to Sleep

Poetry By: Coralie

This poem, for whatever reason, puts me in the mindset of how my Grandma Jane may have felt... She passed away on February 15th, 2013, in her sleep. It also reflects how I feel right now. This is my own extension/inspiration from "Asleep" by The Smiths..
This also briefly uses lyrics from "Asleep". I own no rights to the song.

Sing me to sleep

And then leave me alone.

Don't try to wake me in the morning,

Cuz I'll already be gone.

Brush away your tears

You're not alone

Keep your head held high,

Keep moving on,

Without me.

Don't feel bad for me,

I want you to know

Deep in the cell of my heart

I really want to go.

No more pain,

No more sleepless nights,

No heart ache ever again.

There is no loss,

And there is no gain,

My spirirt is lost.

Don't cry for me,

I've moved on.

Far from this place

You'll hardly notice I'm gone.

So will you

Sing me to sleep?

Please sing me to sleep,

Then leave me alone.

Don't try to wake me

when you find me,

I'll be gone.

Don't feel bad for me.

I need you to know,

Deep in my heart,

I'm glad to go.
