Happiness comes,
and happiness goes,
but I wish it didn’t go by,
-- so fast.
I knew it was to good,
to good to be true,
to good,
-- to last.
I’ve told you everything
there is to know
about me and
-- my past.
I see it everyday
the words that we say
cut people down
-- so fast.
I wish you could stay
so I pray
for your will power
-- to last.
There is nothing to do
Nothing we can say,
to take away,
-- the past.
Fast, last, and past,
are words I choose.
Not just because they rhyme,
or that they keep time.
but because,
don’t you see?
How much you mean to me?
You make my heart beat fast,
you’re the one I want to see last,
and I don’t want you to be simply
-part of my past.
Do you see now,
just how,
you make me think,
and how my mind goes blank.
When I see you,
and when I hear you.
Your voice so sweet,
lifts me of my feet.
A ray of sunshine,
on my cloudy day.
What more is there to say?
