Why could no one just try to understand her?

Buck-Skin Diary

Frightful words criss-cross the page

Memories mix with dried lilies and sage

Ink-freed emotions released to the eye

The daily recording of every tear and sigh

The parchment stained with salty tears

Smearing admittance to sins and fears

Pages torn and yellowed with age

Mirror a broken spirit; infected with rage

The last entry: painfully short and emotionally cold

Consequences of living outside the mold

Tired of running, forever recklessly alone

Today her body lies beneath a granite stone

A terrible heartache hidden beneath years of dust

Of endless hurt and unforgiving lust

The buck-skin diary protects all not said

Safe in a tomb, unaltered and unread.
