When their young the look like angels lying in your arms

You hold them close to your heart and protect them from harm

Looking after them and protecting them with all your heart

Loving them more then the world from the very start

Helping them grow and learn to be their very best

Cooking for them and cleaning up after all their mess

Rejoicing as they take their first steps and learn their first words

Teaching them and protecting them from any hurts

Watching them learn as they grow older and become independent

Ignoring the cries of I hate you because you know they're not meant

Dealing with the tantrums born out of frustration patiently

Knowing its because not being able to express themselves properly

At times getting so frustrated you don't want to deal with them

But knowing that you will always love them till the very end

Never wanting to not have them even if sometimes you wish you could

Because the ups and downs are all part of the joy of parenthood.
