I Don't Want A Husband Like My Father.

Poetry By: DannikaSummers

A poem containing a few swearwords I think. But this poem is about my Father. There are bound to be swearwords.

I took four languages in high school to
help me decide if it was english that you
didn't understand or if it was me.

I think you
wanted the family you saw in 90's movies with
the picket fence and bbq's in summer, not
a house in a little town full of little
people and hardly any churches.
maybe you were brought up with matchbox
cars and since you drive something that isn't
a jaguar or a hatchback capri, you think
you're missing something.

I hope to god that
if I live to thirty my husband won't
give a shit about anything but the ring he
put on my finger and the children
he helped me raise.
