My Death of Innocence

Poetry By: Dante Durden

Tags: Love, Death, Girl, Blood

Man I can't write anything happy anymore. I feel like innocence is an ideal that has been destroyed. But it's personal too.

She lies dying in a pool of blood and tears
Her reflection nothing but murky deceits
The boys and the drugs changed her
Her feigned naivety unraveling before all
I try to hold her hand but she slips away
She gazes into my eyes with hers, black
Her dirty dress barely clinging to pale skin
Pulling me close, she murmurs a final goodbye
Her cold hands grazing my chest, don't let go
Black hair sweeping the floor at her departure
The death of Innocence still and always haunting
