Losing You

Poem By: DarkFairy8907
Poetry

My grandfather doesn't have long to live as he is fighting cancer and refuses to and can't have surgery. Not wanting to lose him but realizing that nobody lives forever I wrote my good-bye to him in the form of a poem. View table of contents...

Good-bye

Seasons come and seasons go.

Someday everyone will grow old.

The thought of losing someone so dear

Strikes our heart with panic and fear.

Though there be nothing to do to change death's game.

We must live on as nothing has changed.

Season's come and seasons go.

Someday everyone will grow old.

Life has been lived the battle won

Now you may rest your journey is done.

Seasons still come and seasons still go.

Your story lives on with much to show.

Be proud of what you have done.

Rest in peace Grandpa John

Hey sis don't get mad at me, at the time I was really upset that knowing he wasn't going to live long due to his health. This was my way of letting go of the fact that eventually he is going to pass on because of his health and there is nothing I can do to stop it. It's a natural part of life and how I accept change.

that was a really sweet poem...but is he really that ill, i had no idea...i hope grandpa john knows how much you guys love him.

He is improving very much so now. There is no longer any sign of cancer that we know of. We finally got him convinced to do the kemo. But when I wrote this, the doctors we predicting a couple weeks to a couple of months for him to live. Now they are giving him a couple years from what I understand. And yes he knows how much we love him. We wrote him a letter telling him, and he wrote one back in thanks.

Firstly im glad grandpa john is ok, my fav part is 3rd verse.

I don't really see it as a jinx. His health has been going up and down since discovering he had cancer. Everytime he seems to get better he gets worse. But hopefully he will have another three years after they get in contact with a new doctor that will actually help him and not say there isn't anything you can do about it. Thanks for the comment.

awh, this is sad, but very VERY good.
i don't know what's happened with your grandpa since jan 2 and i don't intend to spie.
but i hope all will be good for you and your family.

Aww, I made you cry, now you're going make me cry. I only have four grandparents left. One grandmother, one grandfather, one great grandmother, and one great grandfather. My great grandfather is who I wrote this poem about. I really need to find out how he is and I'll post it on this poem so everyone will know as they read.

Hey everyone just to let you know if you're reading this that my grandfather is doing much better. He went to see a different doctor who knew what he was actually doing. The cancer is completely gone for now and they will be keeping a close watch over it to make sure it doesn't come back. Thanks for reading

So far so good with keeping it away. Now we just have to get him back to full health from lack of eating from medication. Thanks for the read.

Wow. This is amazing. My father died five years ago of a massive heart attack, and this poem really spoke to me. At least you get to say goodbye. YOU DONT KNOW HOW LUCKY YOU ARE! All I have to say is use your time with him wisely. Tell him you love him every day, and talk with him every day...if you can. Use the time you have.

Thanks for writing this poem. It helped me.

I wish I could talke with him everyday, put he lives out of state so I can only call him on weekends when I can call long distance for free. I'm glade my poem spoke to you, I know how it feels to lose someone and not be able to say goodbye that happened with two of my grandparents. They also lived out of state and we received the news after they passed by phone.

I'm glad I helped, thanks for reading.
