With Taiwo's Blessing

Poetry By: ddrandall

Tags: Love, Daughter, Hope, God

I know now in my heart God has bigger plans for me... helping others in need and dispair... it took a young lady in London England to help me see that just by calling me "Dad"... her lot in life has not been a good one... for her to trust any man with the pain and burden she has carried around in her life since age 5 is incredible... and out of all of the millions of men in this world, she chose to trust me... what a gift!

many things in life have stopped me from fullfilling my promise to not only her, but her Mum and sister to return to London and show her what the true meaning of being a Dad is... yet she still calls me Dad...

the back stories "Barbaric Pressure", "International Incarceration", and "Blessing of a Daughter" may fill in some of the gaps for you as to why I have written this piece... since I can't go to her, I will honor her for the lessons she has taught me... mainly never give up hope...

with that said, I am working to starting a program here to help and mentor abused women and children, with God's guidance, through putting Words On Paper... as she has had to deal with abuse throughout her young life, I did as well in my youth...

writing has been my escape to some degree... I am praying that helping others to write their feelings will help them as well...

Taiwo, thank you for your inspiration and Love... Maybe my work here in the USA will be our bridge back to each other one day and I will fullfill my promise to you, to return to London...

I Love you!

I hear the words, inside the wind.

My Words On Paper, deep from within.

Three in London, left behind.

Peace inside is hard to find.

She said to me, "I love you Dad".

Giving me the daughter I've never had.

You see I never had children blessed upon me.

For her to say this, has set my heart free.

First time in my life, those words I hear.

Setting a path that I pray becomes clear.

Her innocence was taken so young in life.

For her to trust me has turned on a light.

I promised them all that I would return.

I wanted it bad and the fire still burns.

So I teach and mentor the youth at my job.

Provide needed guidance, at night I then sob.

Because this is what I could be doing for them,

as they are the roses with me as their stem.

With the strength to stand, absorbing the light.

Erasing the past and away from their plight.

This can't be done, so what should I do?

I pray to God provide me a clue.

I know there is more that he see's in me.

I seek the wisdom, Lord set my heart free!

Remove emptiness and abuse with words that I say.

Bringing hope and a smile to one person every day.

Then I can move forward with the promise that I hold.

To bring her broken heart back and in from the cold.

I think of her four words, every day as I am dressing.

and how I can heal others because of Taiwo's blessing.
