New Years Resolution 2012

I have read a couple of things recently that have made me want to rant. The reason for my desire to rant was the ignorance, intolerance and indifference shown by a few, but rather than show my intolerance of them I decided to put my thoughts in to a poem and set myself some personal goals for the New Year.

To all my friends here whose new year starts tomorrow, I wish you all the best. Health and happiness. Oh I missed wealth, that too, so long as you distribute it wisely.

New Year’s Resolution

I do not need to understand what does not affect me directly!

I is for Ignorance

I do not want to listen to your view or change my own!

I is for Intolerance

I don’t care how my actions affect you!

I is for Indifference

I am not going to look beyond my world!

I is for Insular

I am going to say what you want to hear, but not act on it!

I is for Insincere

I will not take criticism of my views!

I is for Indignation

Can I learn to understand others around me?

C is for Compassionate

Am I able to listen to your views and adjust mine?

A is for Acceptance

Reassess my actions that affect other and show them I see, can I?

R is for Reassurance

I want to know about your world too, will you help?

I is for Inclusive

Niceties are fine but can I act on what I say?

N is for Noble

Gauge my own views to include others, is it possible?

G is for Generous
