If you go to the zoo
are you sure that you're safe?
Will you bring the kids along?
If you see the wild exhibits
of jungle animals like
lions or silver-back gorillas,
don't stare too long or hard,
the dorment lying down or sleeping
creatures are merely resting,
waiting, biding their time.
They remember that they are wild
still.
They remember kill, or be
killed.
Do you?
Do you still feel the instincts
for fight,
or flight?
Or do your instincts tell you
to drop to your knees
and plead, or curl up and pray?
What can you say?
I guess you'll see.
It isn't you or me,
it's them.
The beasts.
So go, enjoy, and take the
kids and look, and laugh
at the sleeping kings
of the trees, and the plains,
and the kill.
Just listen closely to this
simple caution:
Be very careful
and make sure you know
what side of the cage you are on.
Cause the prison bars
aren't made for them,
they're made for us.
