I was a disappointment I know that.

I was supposed to be like her

I was supposed to be thin and pretty

Smart and strong

I was supposed to make them proud

To be this person they weren't afraid to call their daughter

I was supposed to be their puppet

To do as they say

Without questioning

Or having an opinion

I was supposed to be happy

And grateful

They were supposed to love me

No matter what

They were supposed to listen and believe me

Even if it was hard to

They were supposed to understand me and care

When I'm in pain

They were supposed to love us equally and Not

Have favourites

He was supposed to protect me

From evil

She was supposed to

Make it all better

And I

Was supposed to be brave

But we're not who we're supposed to be

We are all broken

And lost

I just wish they knew who I was

So I don't have to tell them

I wish I knew who I was so I don't have to tell myself

It's a lot easier pretending to be who you're supposed to be

Then being who you are

Because you have to find yourself first

And it's hard finding myself

In a dark cold world
