everywhere looks green and new
lovers walk in april rain
soaked they take a moment or two
and he kisses her again .
.
droplets fall like tears
dripping down her spine
smiling as she hears
''oh'' sweetheart please be mine .
.
holding hands and walking
in matching rainproof coat
now is not the time for talking
they retire to a barn remote .
.
on bales of hay they settle
they whisper words of truth
as rain bounces off the metal
of the barn's steeply sloping roof .
.
naked their teeth now chatter
then steam from bodies rise
making love to the pitter patter
the music from april skies .
.
what a sweet way to pass the hours
we must do this again
let us dream of april showers
and the romance of the rain .
