Firework in Retrograde

Passionate bodies entertwine into a labyrinth of arms and legs
And pelvic bones
Falling through the ebony night onto shoots of wet grass
Matted beneath the war of the skin
On skin on skin
Her eyes weep like a cloud in the spring
Her exhalation of exaltation is just enough
Enough to make the veins in my ears burst
Like a firework in retrograde
Sending pieces of me into inner space
Tonight we cull the embers of a damp fire
Just to find how long it'll burn
Like a cigarette burning to ash in an armchair
Of some sleeping junky's room
The tiniest ember could force
The largest fire to bloom
But as I kiss her potent lips I smell death
And before the best part can even begin
The rain settles in
Fire to ember to smoke
Thankfully I kept a can of gas to burn this bridge
