Snakes to the Slaughter

Silently I slither
Like liquid spilled over the hard ground
For I am a God
Blessed with scales and a forked tongue
To sell you short on
Honesty, Truth, and Wisdom
God blesses thou for thou art children
Just babies to slaughter I create
Doomsday is here, welcome, but you're too late
Everybody died in their bed while they slept
For I, the snake, like a shadow crept
And I quieted every lucid dream
And the dreamer never felt a thing
