Pallid.
Bleached Skin.
Purpled lips touch the mantle
Hang above the fireplace
In a skewed white distort
My bloodshot eyes for sport
And I'm drying out your dress
You left in such a wreck
A ball of fire to fan the flames
A last rite couldn't speak your name
And for this I've succummed to shame
The pain just lets me know that i'm alive
And if i shake too hard
When I throw this underground
I'm sorry you're not with me
I just wanted you around
you took a car ride to the bottom
Where the silt clogs your lungs
And the riverbed's not meant for sleeping
You're dreams are slowly fleeing
Did you touch the fireflies
When you tried to escape
And honestly I couldn't name
A cleaner getaway.

Very clever and original! Winter romances are so fleeting - you melted my heart with this one. Lol! Loved the poem. You did a really great job!

I think by now you have myself and Lacey Cummings tied around your little finger! Ha ha!

Did you touch the fireflies? We should put neon lights around your name.
