As your daughter I wonder
I wonder what you’ve learned
So I can learn what you learn
So I can be as serious as you are
And I’m trying really hard
To be big and tough
But growing up is rough.
I want to be like you more
So I can look one in the eyes
Who isn’t saying what they should be
So they will tell me.
You’ve had a long adventure, everyday a brand new
And I have too
But not as many yet
We’ve shared long car rides to school, work, and home
So many sentences in the air to roam
And yet many more to come
Because every day is a new adventure
And you never end up in the literal same place
Because no snowflake is the same as another
So they say
So no place is the same.

Merry Christmas
