Before i knew how
to live,
i used to feel dead.
alone, worthless.
until you came and
opened me up
and revived me.
i am the one who
screamed
loudest when we
lost you the first time.
people think i am an
iams dog, but i am your
iams cat
chasing my tail in the
moonlight, and watching
you sleep.
i am the one who put
the jig into the fiddle and
when it is most inconvenient,
i come back, to set you
straight on your feet
to make sure we don’t
loose you again.
Ever.
For in the circus of this
family, the cats walk
the tightrope and i,
i am the sideshow freak.
