alt

Snow blankets all

like confectionary sugar -

a fantasy land.

Hydrants are toadstools;

we walk on the clouds.

The light is different,

whiter, brighter.

The day is quiet,

sound swallowed

in a blanket of powder.

The road is still dark.

But for awhile

at least

We are in a different land.

~~~
Lovely poem, perfect at this time of year ~ Nixie
Thanks Nixie.
I wish it could be as beautiful outside near me as this poem depicts. I have snow, but it's so cold out there your eyelids would freeze to your eyeballs, heh.
The pictures really add to it, but your imagery was excellent in that it would have worked even without them :)
thanks. sounds like your in the arctic. i remember i once traveled to canada and i couldn't believe how cold it was. -20 F. we had to take a taxi to go a block.
hope it gets warmer for you.
its beautiful, i wish i could just go into the scene and melt (but it'd be too cold for that... hehe) i enjoyed it. :D
Yes I too love the snow youve captured that almost lonley but serene feeling that its white blanket brings, lovely writing love how you compared snow to confectionary and hydrants to toadstools it make me almost feel the place was alive well done!!1
Since I remembered I thought I would check out the snow poem you mentioned. I thought the pictures went well with the poem and gave the fantasy view a realistic view as well. I enjoyed it. Thanks :)
Very nice piece. I always viewed it as a wonderland rather than a depressing scene :) So pure...
You have to show me how you put your pictures up like that. Is there a site where you can upload to and then use the url to put into your work?
Thanks. You can use photobucket. Then, you can create slideshows or just upload the pictures. They supply you with the link.
Greetings,
Wow ... a winter wonderdland in your own front yard. I am jealous. Your, so eloquently written poem, describes the gorgeous scenery you have provided to a tee. Kudos to you!
Best regards,
Thanks October O!
Lovely poem. I like the short lines, the soft sounding syllables, the imagery, especially "the light is different, lighter, brighter" and "sound swallowed in a blanket". The pictures are glorious. Very nice!
thank you!
How attached are you to that last line??
Posted: Mar 19, 2008
Author Comment:
not very attached. the poem itself needs a bit of work. actually, i think i'm going to make a few edits now. any suggestions are welcome.
i made a few edits to the flow. still not sure it is right. my poetry technique is very poor.
Thanks Evelyn!
your poems seem to bring a lot of good memories for me. I love the snow. The poems and pictures remind me of when I lived in New York. Walking out side right after it snows is the greatest.
This is indeed wonderland (sans Alice). Great work. ;-)
Very dreamy and comforting. As if, despite the cold, the beauty of such scenery alone is warming, like a heavy blanket. Great job. :)
Thanks. Glad it kept you cool. Getting ready to do a summer and then fall one also.
I'm a true lover of winter, and this right here, is a big reason why. It really does make the entire world seem like a wonderland. I liked this peace, thanks for sharing it Eraser!
