He is my relief from pain.
Making me forget my hurts,
Leaving numbness where they were.
Chasing troubles from my mind,
Leaving happy thoughts behind.
If ever I should leave his side,
Thoughts intrude, wounds gape wide.
Numbness ceases, thoughts persist.
I wonder, “Why should I exist?”
Waiting for him in the dark,
Leaves me only visions stark.
My Novocain, relief from pain,
Come and take my hurts away.
Perhaps you’re not what’s best for me,
But you keep me living, sane, and free.
