Dear sir

Poem By: Eternal Night
Poetry

Tags: poor, hungry, poverty

This is a bit of a weird one. I started writing on one topic, for the first couple of lines and then it just kind of changed with out me even thinking. Anyway it kind of ended up with a poor, sweet, homeless child who is just asking the passers-by for money. Enjoy. View table of contents...

Excuse me sir,
Did you not see me there,
Lying on the ground
Please sir,
Do you not have a moment to spare
To lend a little help?
Excuse me sir,
Are you just going to ignore me?
Go home then,
To your sweet little life,
Where you may sit,
And eat
And be sheltered from cold
Dear sir,
Sleep tonight
Content, with a full stomach
So go on home
And leave poor little me
Out in the cold
I forgive you already
As I do every other
Good night Sir

Really good poetry. The best I've read today in fact. Brilliantly structured in rhythm and rhyme.

Eternal Night

oh ....so sad,
homeless kidswho have no food and shelter and nobody bring tears tomy eyes.
My papa was homeless and an orphan and he had to work hard to earn his PhD in Chemistry and he was determined to do it. He did it by his own merit and received a scholarship to study further. He did so much for us and I feel indebted to him forever.
He will tell me "In this world of competition, forget that u r a girl and so u cannot do it."
I believed in him always.
This poem revived all those memories of my papa being a homeless and an orphan when his family died in the cholera epidemic in India when he was a kid.

That's really sad, but well done to him for working his best and proving himself. It proves that even unfortunate of us have a chance, though they should never be in that position. He sounds like a teriffic man. :) thanks for the comment. Good luck to you in the future.

it reminded me of the movie Oliver based on Charles Dickens' book.

Thanks! It's so sad to see those who don't have the means of creating a better life for themselves. It's awful. And terribly sad. Thanks :) Eternal Night

I can't believe I didn't comment sooner! This is so sad :( Makes you think how lucky some people are to have a home, and good food each day... and a bed to sleep in, and friends that are there for them!
A really good poem, I love the repetition of 'Sir', alters the tone and makes it even more awesome :P

Aw thanks! And the comment was worth the wait :) We really are lucky people, to think of all the things we take for granted. Eternal Night
