Some fragments are just

lost forever

There isn't any enchanted spell

some wishing upon a shooting star

that magically brings

those missing parts of you

back.

You find that the stuff of

legends and faerie-tales

weaves thin magic

legends that aren't truly

larger-than-life

after all

but simply mortal

flesh and blood

fallible.

The pretty stories

that placated us

throughout childhood

may not have been

a happily-ever-after

but instead

the darker

sadder

untold stories  beneath them.

Strange

so very strange

though we lament the loss

of a certain sense

of innocence

a limitless joy for being

we are somehow

surprisingly

Grateful.

Relieved.

Reality.

What a pill it is to swallow

at first!

 But like any potent medicine

it eventually

clears away the throbbing

 ache

And begins to

cause what ails you

to subside.

Yes yes

there are parts

that will never heal

Hurts

that no amount of soothing

will ever calm.

I cannot claim

to be sage enough to know

if there is any reason

at all

for some heartache

woes and regrets

to become

such festering wounds.

I will be

brave enough to venture

that the scarsthat time

does not erase

can serve as reminders

of a journey

sometimes gone awry

and caution signs

for paths

that should not be taken again.

Most important

more than any thought

is the knowledge

that injuries sustained are

above all

proof of survival

badges

of courage and tenacity.

It ceases to matter

that some elements will be

forever beyond repair.

What counts is

that you go on

as if you

never took the beating

in the first place.

Your determination

alone

will shape

mind, heart, and soul into

wholeness again.

Found this to be most inspirational and well grounded, at the same time. Most interesting and well written. Good job. Gave it an "I Like It" vote.

Happy trails,

Ed Bradley.
