"When the Ice Princess Returns"

Gracefully, she walks away
Head held high
Dignity intact.

Beautiful to behold
As we watch from below
Blind to her disillusionment
and the silent grief.

Pain, hidden behind sweet smiles
Serenity masking an inner turmoil
Emotions that cannot be revealed.

Such strength to never crumble
from the careless pinpricks
dealt to her faithful heart
by careless deeds and words.

For inside she grows cold
Terrible and disheartened
Faith banished, not be welcomed back.

What sad knowledge
has brought  this maiden's sorrows
to rest so heavily
on her mind?

The forsaken answer lies forever shrouded
behind lips and hearts that
will not acknowledge truth.

This sound like an extract from some mystical story, which gives it an even more disembodied feel. Very ethereal. I like it.

Thank you. I thought the faerie-tale feel would enhance the "disconnect" the girl was feeling from her situation, from her sadness.
Take care.
