Endless emptiness filled with whispers;
cruel innuendos and conniving insults,
thumping against the walls you tried so hard to build,
the lump in your throat grows,
becoming difficult swallow,
Impossible to ignore.
Everyday people glance, stare and judge.
Without knowing what lurks beneath the surface,
they make presumptions,
and assume the differences are wrong.
assume that you are wrong.
You squeeze your eyes shut,
begging and pleading for the world to fade away,
to become cloudy and unclear.
Instead icy tears creep down your cheeks,
Your eyelashes and face become damp,
with all the sadness buried deep within.
You question the point of being here,
when you are so alone and in such deep pain,
everyday the torture becomes more unbearable,
harder to swallow.
So you let them win.
Allow your secrets to fuel the whispers,
and silence replace the rumours,
you free yourself from the evil,
and allow yourself to fly above.
But you question still;
By letting them win,
Have you lost all you had?
becoming a memory to those who cared,
giving your life for those who didn't.
