The pain came when you decided it was time for you to leave
I felt it all while struggling to breathe
You said you would be there when times got rough
I gave you my all, stayed strong and stayed tough
No one ever once tried to shoot me down
And on my face you’d never see a frown
But when you left it came rushing out at once
And in the end left me feeling like a dunce
Left me feeling like it was all my fault
Then I realized it was time to be an adult
No more waiting for you to yet arrive
But time for me to wake up and revive
You were supposed to be there, my protector, and my dad
But you walked out and left now isn’t that sad
Once was there again and in my mind you overfed
And now I realize you wouldn’t care if I were dead
I tried over and over to give you another chance
But now I don’t think I’d even give you one more glance
You decided to leave, to call me out of my name
Now I won’t ever look at you the same
All I have to say is dear father but why
Numerous and countless times I have cried
You were supposed to be there, my protector, and my dad
But you walked out and left now isn’t that sad
Dear father there was that one time I thought I loved you
But now is the time to go out and pursue
The dreams I once had when you said you’d be there
I searched all over but couldn’t find you anywhere
