For many, many years now,
You've always helped me through the dark.
And I can only wonder how,
But you definitely left your mark.
It was our first year at a whole new school,
And everyone was a couple, except me and you.
Life had begun to seem so cruel,
Yet, you knew EXACTLY what to do.
With tears welling in my saddened eyes,
You wrapped your arms around me tight,
Looked me in the eyes, and said,
"I hope you know somebody loves you,
And wants the same things, too,"
As if you completely knew.
You often spoke those famous words
For the next three years of my young life.
And we'd hug so tight until it hurt;
That was how I'd get through strife.
But on our high school graduation day,
Your world began crashing down,
And I knew EXACTLY what to say,
Because of the times I bore a frown.
With tears welling in your saddened eyes,
I wrapped my arms around you tight,
Looked you in the eyes, and said,
"I hope you know somebody loves you,
And wants the same things, too,"
As if I completely knew.
The heavens opened up, and it began pouring rain.
Our own tears blended with those falling drops,
And we held on tight, as if to escape all pain....
