Angel on the bridge

Poetry By: fireflystar
Poetry

Possibly the worst poem I've ever written, if not the worst then definitely the strangest. Could probably get some very odd enterpirtations of this one.

I saw an angel on the bridge as a sun beam streaked across the sky,
Just for a heartbeat lighting the world.
I saw an angel take my hand, she called my name.
If only.
I would have flown home.
I wanted to run to my angel as I made my way across the bridge.
Before my head could follow my aching heart,
She slipped away out of sight.
I want to know the secrets of the angel.
I see how she could break,
I see how she stands tall and proud.
I smile at her,
She smiles at me.
She is everything I wish to be.
How does she break a heart then fill it with warmth?
How is she loved and discussed with scorn?
How did she save me by breaking the circle?
Then take my place in the line?
Why is her secret one step ahead, just out of reach?
As life leaves me behind?
O angel,
How can I hate you?
How can I love you?
How can I feel anything at all?
As I walked back across the bridge alone, the world was black.
I know longer cherished dreams of flying home to be with the lord,
Though I tried to bring them back.
My head was filled with words that would ruin the point and make the point seem pointless.
The words that would have said the right thing filtered away as I realised the moment had gone.
The bridge was once again dead. Making the death seem tempting, ludicrous.
I saw the father on the bridge,
And the father is with me now, though I don't know what he thinks.
Just keep smiling angel, keep shining.
Keep going angel, keep fighting.
If you ever remember angel,
Forget me quickly,
Forgive me kindly.
