I wish you realised,
I wish you knew,
How much I truly do love you.
If I were sad you'd give your time,
If it were you I'd give you mine, if only you would take it.
If I were crying, you'd make me smile,
Even if it took a while.
If they were your tears I'd ache inside,
Even when the rain had dried.
If you were still hurting, if you were still sad,
Your sorrow would be all I had.
If I were lonely you'd stay with me,
If it were you I'd be more than happy,
To do the same.
Let you shout at me and take the blame.
I'd comfort you and share your pain.
You listen to my words of shame,
And still tell me that I'm good.
While I wish to follow your example,
Because your goodness is what goodness should be, what I should be,
The simple, cleanest, purest truth.
Oh how I wish you knew.
I wish you realised,
I wish you knew,
How much I truly do love you.
