Don't Trust This Shell

A monster inside,
I must hide.
It's vital,
It's for survival.

A monster inside,

I must hide.

It's vital,

It's for survival.

Smiles and peppiness outside,

Tears, scars and darkness lay inside.

I'm actually broken,

Acting as though I'm just fine.

I'm a bomb about to go off,

Hurting only me, an implosion.

I am empty.

I am a monster's shell.

I am dead,

Though the monster lives.

I am long gone,

Though the monster remains.

And I am forgotten,

The monster is coming out.

Run,

Flee,

Don't trust this shell,

It's not me.
