The tides have turned
No longer in your favor
My lesson I’ve learned
No longer will the fire burn.
The water was rough
Now calm in your wake
I’m strong but not your kind of tough.
I’ll never be enough.
The fire’s died, now smoldering embers
The smoke lifts my soul
As cleansing as the new Septembers
Though the fire’s gone, I’m the only one that remembers.
I am the match, you are the wind
Strike me, light the spark.
Just to blow out my light again
Break me just to know how far I’d bend.
The tides have turned
No longer in your favor
My lesson I’ve learned
No longer will the fire burn.
Thank God the tides have turned.
