His face lights up when he sees me,
He smiles that soft, marvellous smile,
His eyes dance to a silent tune.
I know he’ll go that extra mile.
He spreads his arms and invites me,
And my body gladly agrees,
His body wrapping around me,
Protecting me from the cool breeze.
His pounding heart is pressed to mine,
And they dance a synchronised beat,
Lips not speaking a single word,
Our silence is gentle and sweet.
And yet, this embrace isn’t right.
My mind isn’t here, but elsewhere,
In the wide arms of another.
It is that embrace that I share.
I’m lost in the journey of life,
I don’t know where to go from here,
Or who it is that I cherish,
My heart blinded with timid fear.
I wish someone would assist me,
Show me which is the correct way,
Which person is the one I love,
And where it is that I should stay.
