Musing on self proclaimed best in the world

Best in the World,

I am.

Or so he claimed.

A bold claim,

or so I thought.

Met a few lately,

seem a very select group.

Self-confident proclamations,

to meer minions

in comparison

to their stature.

The audacity worries me.

Doubt assails me.

But perhaps there is

a world exam of sorts.

A championship event.

Enter at your own risk,

I imagine the forms

must say.

and in fine print -

egos can be destroyed

(in the harsh glare of evidence.)

Or perhaps

there is a meter.

A German contraption

it would be.

Starts at

Completey Hopless

and

winds

around

to

Best in the World.

I wonder

whether

they

secretly

measure

themselves

every night.
