summer with my grandkids on the beach

Roll on summer

I am going to join the bucket and spade brigade

because I have now a Granny been made

Come summer we can go to the beach

Making sandcastles, my grandkids I'll teach

What fun we shall have playing in the rock-pools

I can act like a child, breaking all the rules

I will show them shells in their tiny hands

They will bury me up to my neck in the sand

We will eat sandwiches made full of grit

And I will show them how to spit!

We will clamber over the stones and the rocks

There will be no need for time, nor any clocks

So long as there is sun, we will have a great time

And I'll have my Grandkids to myself - 'all mine!'

So I am happy to join the bucket and spade brigade

Because I have now, a Granny, been made!
