A poem about a mood

Seascapes

In the visions of the rocks, that overhung the weathered vein

hid the shadows that withheld the sultry rain

high tide arrested

too soon to enter in.

Moorings molested

aroused in mortal sin.

Thereby,

Came the crashing clutches of the morning tide

unrolling, imposing, wild being, wild-eyed

in the blueness of the surf, that spat in angry zest

foreboding as the knowledge, that breeds unrest.

Swirling whirlpools, circling caverns,

rainbow rivulets that often happen,

to steal the freedom, far flung through fathoms

deep down,

in hush.

Till,

Slovenly and with sleeping steps,

She crept away, in shame, - bereft

Dragging helpless shapes into the depths

that hung her crown.

Suddenly, silence-

A sadistic stare

As the traces vanished with surprise,

Leaving shattered victims to die

And a still and horrific expression,

In the air.

Withdraws the tide.
