The Music of My Heart

by Gerard Lebel

You strummed
my heartstrings
knowing unequivocally
how easily
they can be broken,
encouraging
our new love song
to be born.

I lingered,
listening to the music
of my heart,
wrapping
you in its melody
once again,
yearning
for your whispers of love
long past the moment of no return.

Hi Ger,
I pondered on 'unequivicably' for a while; then thought -yes - those who love us understand our fragility.

Posted: Jan 20, 2008

Author Comment:

Yes... that was exactly my point in the poem... that those who really love us do understand how easily our heart can be broken. Thanks for the read and comment, James. Happy writing.....Jerry

Dear Gerabel,
Old love never dies
Your heartstrings vibrate
To a wonderful melody,
The melody of your heart.
It's a heart that's fragile,
Fot its been broken many times.
And yet does love linger,
In your ears
And in your heart.
Old love never dies.

Sincerely,
Satis

A lovely way of putting things "I lingered" - that's it isn't it? when someone you loves decides to go? We linger - not ready to accept - Very nicely put Jerry -

Thanks again Dody, for your lovely comments. You always seem to pick up on things in my writing that I've only implied. 'That's a good thing!' We do seem to 'linger' in times like these, don't we. It's an accurate word... the only one I could come up with that fit my feelings. Thanks for the read. Peace and love.....Jerry

Very beautiful. I don't wait for Valentine's Day to tell people how much I love them!! I think this would be beautiful on a Hallmark card, or something. . . . Hmmmm, what an intersting idea: You could make up your own cards!! Ever thought of that?

That is an interesting idea... I'm not an artist though so I wouldn't know how to design the card. Thanks for reading and commenting so nicely. I'm happy that you liked this poem. Have a happy day.....Jerry

But isn't that how we all fall in love, so cautious, so careful yet so foolish in the end and letting go to take hold of something worth the risk. Flawless!

Posted: Jan 21, 2008

Author Comment:

Yes, yes, yes...YES! Of course this is how we all fall in love. My intentions exactly with this piece!! Thank you so very much for your vote of confidence. It lifts my spirits when I know that something I have written speaks to someone else!! Thanks for the read and excellent comment. I'm very happy that you liked this piece.....Jerry

The sound of love is greater than any drama queen for sure!!!

There is a reason we "endure" love, because like you said we recognize the frailty of being alone, when we have someone to lean on they lean on us as well. Loved it. :D

Once someone played my tune but i played theirs badly and i think i snapped a string... but all past aside, i hope to never love unless i know for sure that i can play them a song.
