What isn't obvious

Poetry By: GiggleMonster2

I was sitting in my drivers ed class one day and I was bored out of my mind. I wanted to write a poem that was kind of symbolic and with this poem I used the face of a woman to depict her life. This poem isn't symbolic I guess but it's still a good one. =)

What isn't obvious

Perhaps at first glance
her pain would be blind
and you'd see what she presented:
a smile that was kind

But if you've ever heard the saying
"read between the lines"
you'd know there's more to her
than a life that's so divine

She had the face of the young
but still the face of the old
and in that tired face
her story was still told

The corners of her mouth
hung there in a frown
pulling away from each other
so she would look so down

every time she'd smile
small lines tugged at her eyes
her heart was unhappy
it did not speak of lies

She had the face of a fallen angel
and nothing could compare
to the pain she went through in her life
and all of the despair

Her life was written on her face
but still she tried to hide
all the feelings she felt
and the pain she felt inside

Her eyes would often depict
some of the happiness she'd feel
on some of the rarest occasions
a feeling very real

She was like any other person
who had a heart of their own
went through all her pain
she would never be alone
