I'd do Anything to have her back

Poetry By: goldenxrose
Poetry

This is a poem I wrote quite quickly about my horse that I am losing in a month. She means the world to me.
I'm sorry that it isn't the best, I wrote it through tears and I didn't want it to be perfect. I wanted it to be raw with emotions and just be able to express everything.

It's a ballade with a twist... it mainly follows the rules of one except it's 4 stanzas instead of 3.

Two years ago,

The moment I saw her I wanted you.

Little did I know a year later I would get that chance.

I was sceptical at first,

With the fussiness, the bucking, and the constant anger issues she seemed to have;

But I gave it my best shot,

And it sure as hell paid off.

I never thought our time would end so quickly,

I'd do anything to have her back.

She taught me how to soar to new heights,

Jumping things I never imagined I'd ever be able to.

She does everything I've ever asked of her,

And slowly lost her fussy attitude

When times got tough she was still there for me,

The only thing keeping me going;

The picture of her on my cell phone constantly reminding me why I was fighting each day.

She always knows how to bring a smile to my face when I'm down,

And seems to make a great effort to make me happy when I'm sad.

I never thought our time would end so quickly,

I'd do anything to have her back.

No matter how many times I fell I always wanted to get back on,

The moment they thought I broke my neck and back from falling off her,

I only worried about how she felt and if she'd be okay.

Two months later, and we're back competing,

And winning (without any falls)!

I never thought this time would end so quickly,

I'd do anything to have her back.

We've been through thick and thin,

And able to still manage to get back on top.

I wish time could freeze right now,

As I don't know what I'm going to do when she leaves in the next month…

I truly never thought I could love something so much.

She is my dream.

I don't want this to end,

And mare, I want you to know, it won't without a fight.
