Paper umbrellas, hide me from sparkling rain
You ran for cover, and I never saw you again
Nothing is lasting, people forget who they are
But I won't forget you, how your eyes were shining like stars
A spark of electric, like somebody turned on a light
It lasted a moment, then fizzled right out of my sight
Now nothing is there, it's as black as a midnight sky
Did you forget me, I really won't be that surprised
Paper umbrellas, hiding the thoughts in my mind
You're not allowed under, it's not that I'm being unkind
I just wouldn't want all me deepest thoughts being on show
Maybe they're all about you, but now you'll never know.
