A Child Died
I kneel before this child now
My tears do flow like rivers strong
My heart does ache and so.
Why death should claim a one like this
Why innocence should die,
A life unlived I held so close
A child died today.
No peaceful death no slipping off
A victim of man's wars,
Like thousands that do die toady
A child quiet lay.
A dream was quenched a spark removed
A puzzle piece was lost,
is this what man does bring I cry
Then why God let him live.
The tapestry of life I see
but only from one side,
God's mind I cannot understand
yet still I question why?
This child died of this I know
and not by God's own hand;
it was the cruel wars of man
that followed not His path.
A child's life what care is that
a woman young or old,
A dozen or a thousand fall
yet still the wars go on.
To kill, to rape, to steal and burn
to pillage as they go,
so soldiers in the game of war
do move like players pawns.
Oh when, I cry - will man now learn
that such will bring but pain,
to reach these men - my life must live
to turn them from their ways!
Unless we take a stand and fight
these deaths will always be
