A Knight in Vigil

Poetry By: Graeme Montrose

A poem about a knight in vigil. What a knight was meant to be according to chivalry. A protector of the weak and helpless a beacon for God's light. Alas in reality this was not so.

The Knight on Vigil
All night I kept a vigil Lord
I bowed my head to Thee
My heart is Thine O'Lord above
My sword I give to Thee
I burnished all my armour bright
I cleansed my heart O'Lord
My life I give to Thee my Lord
Thy service enter I
To do Thy bidding such I will
To spread Thy words abroad
To enter in Thy chambers Lord
To spend my time with Thee
Anoint me Lord I ask Thee now
Give me Thy grace and strength
I struggle Lord to put aside
The things that tempt my soul
And now I kneel before Thee Lord
In humble reverence come
O' cleanse my soul of all that's ill
Renew my spirit Lord
Help me aid the poor and meek
Protect them from all ill
