Early Morning Coffee Blues
The day has dawned once more for me
The clock it ticks away
Early morning coffee blues
I sip my bitter brew
Red glowing hues they cover all
Shapes begin to form
Darkening shades of rustic tone
Revealing morning's soul
Smells of coffee linger there
Mellow sunrise life begins
Faded papers cluttered round
Ringing notes of bitter strife
Daily news I scan the page
Crime and war and sex there wait
Early morning coffee blues
I sip my bitter brew
My thoughts describe what others feel
An aching void within
A TV blares from inside the café
The usual endless trash
A woman dressed in crimson cloth
A chiffon wrap revealing all
Roses of scarlet grasped in hand
Crowds adore her - sing her praise
Early morning coffee blues
I sip my bitter brew
Another week another day
The TV blares aloud
The smiles now turned to hate I see
Crowds devour her laughingly
Thrown too the wolves she was
Such are starlets' lives
Fearful shivers rack my soul
Masses move and speak as one
Sitting in the same old café
Drinking coffee strong
Early morning coffee blues
I sip my bitter brew
Glazed eyes show empty souls
Lost in waves of time
Another day another year
Life moves endlessly
Early morning coffee blues
I sip my bitter brew
