I Dance with Melancholy
It seemed so nice when first we met
It felt so good at first
Dear Melancholy danced with me
While others stepped aside
I took in my arms so tight
She smiled, i held her close
We danced in step, as one we moved
She understood me well
Lost in tears my heart cried out
Life is full of pain
Oh the anguish that breaks forth
When night began to fall
Leonard Cohen sang his songs
His words grew deep within
Sadness, despair, is but fuel
To this disheartened soul
Nico played so dark and cold
Melancholy ripe
Her music brought me lower yet
Wrapped in saddness grasp
Lost to all that once was light
I see the past replay
As I cry out unto the night
I can't undo what's done
The past cannot be changed i know
Sorrow lives within
I linger in despair’s caress
I lie within her arms
My eyes are red, I weep once more
Can none my sorrow heal?
Locked within an endless chain
Trapped in wretchedness
No hope, no faith, just hopelessness
Constantly I fail
Depression but a hair away
Thoughts of suicide
Oh the troubled road you walk
When despair takes control
I dance with Melancholy now
We waltz the night away
Endless dancing, close embrace
Entwined in wretchedness
I waltz through tears in silent screams
I dance unto ends time
My heart it cries
My mind's in shreds
Locked in her embrace
Oh the day that we did meet
Melancholy and I
