Idyllic Moments
Darkness of night gave way to early rays of light
Silence of night slowly gave birth to a symphony of life
All around was quietness and peace
Rocks of all shapes and size
Colored each in its own particular way
Nature had her own life
Rich greens, browns, reds, oranges
Each one adding one to the other
Creating a masterpiece of colour
A little bird glided to the ground
It hopped around its head darted up and down
It pecked upon the grass
A cricket hopped along the rocks
A large beetle scrambled out of a hole
It scurried away it felt good to be alive
The scent of the wild flowers wafted to my nostrils
I breathed deeply - I sighed
Through long swaying grass I strode
I gazed out over the deep green sea
Spread like a blanket under the rising sun
I took a deep breath of fresh air
Fishermen were busy
Scampering around cleaning their nets
Packing the fresh fish into barrels of salt
Fresh breeze brought me the aroma of the seaweed
Mingled with the pungent fresh salty sea and fish
Contrasting the fragrance of the wild flowers
It was a smell of life filling me with exultation
Squatting down I felt the soft grass
It ran through my fingers blowing in the breeze
Watching the rippling waves
As they lapped upon the shore
I felt glad to be alive
Listening to the humming bird
I heard a gull squeal with joy
Near the cliff a heron took to wing
I smiled then I sighed
Even this idyllic moment
Must come to an end
