Lake Leman
As I gazed upon Lake Leman
My eyes fell on a beauty rare
More stunning that the noonday sun
As wondrous as the rose
She sat with friends along the shore
She smiled as I walked by her
All else was coloured by that smile
Her voice a nightingale
Nature took a life its' own
Time it stood quite still
Dancing words within my soul
Lifted high to worlds beyond
Music sang within my heart
It colors I did see
Shades of violet and of rose
Each changing shape and hue
Vibrant music, hidden rhymes
Unlocking gates of time
Gentle winds did stir the grass
Trees did dance in grace
Bending swaying moving as one
O such joy I saw
Notes of songs in color viewed
Words in scents I breathed
O the ecstasy I felt
Love it colored all
Birds did screech in glee to me
Plaintive songs I heard
Chirping chattering songs of life
Silence had a song its own
Seldom any heard
Life's cacophony of sounds
Drowning out all else
Hustle bustle everywhere
Rushing who knows where
Winds did howl and moan in time
The birds did sing, the insects too
All pleasing to my ear
Whispers all around me heard
Listening to the winds
This beauty changed my life that day
Her smile it filled my soul
Her voice an angel's lifted me
Her eyes did captivate
I walk Leman now many a day
Yet never see her there
Was it a dream, a vision fair?
I walk the shore once more
