Seems Like Peace Is The Only Thing I'll Never Know
I was born a prisoner in my land, my birth of no account
Trouble and strife my daily fare, I fight for every breath
Misused, abused, but no one cares, the world just passes by
The diplomats and governments just talk and talk and talk
Violence just a way of life, the soldiers thinks us scum
The lowest of the low we are as if we don't exist
As children we are never young, a childhood lost to all
Our schooling is a fight to get; they'd rather we are dumb
I live in squalor in my land they say it's not our home
Reviled, mistreated, pushed around, they rather we would die
Yet deep inside a fire burns, freedom it doth cry
The only freedom that we have is that within our mind
Bombings, killings, beating too, imprisoned because we are
I've learned to cope with all that comes, though inwardly I cry
To see my family suffer so, my sister, cousins too
It tears my heart, it twists my gut, I weep when I'm alone
Justice! Just a word I hear, for justice sees us not
The evil flourishes around, while good men only die
To rot in prison, or to die, or slowly give up hope
So many years have come and gone, and still they only talk
It seems like peace I'll never know, for there none who really cares
The forgotten ones I think we are, the media only lies
I look to God and wonder why, why must we suffer so
But inwardly I know He cares, its man we suffer from
My children have grown like myself, a prisoner in their land
They see injustice every day, abuse they suffer from
I'm growing old, my time is short, and I've lived troubled life
I've prayed for peace, for freedoms bell, alas it never comes
Pain I know it's always there, suffering of some sort
Injustice I have always known, nothing else abides
Love, thank God I know as well, my sweet wife by my side
Children, God has blessed me with, like plants they usher life
Seems like peace is the only thing I'll never know for sure
Tomorrow's dreams may someday come, but not that I will see
I'm just a prisoner in my land, a captive no one cares
Chained in misery, lied about, misused in everyway
