Sir Owain
'It was on a day both cold and wet
That Sir Owain did come
A man of laughter and of strength
He showed himself to be
Now legend tells his stories oft
He slew a Pictish horde
He climbed the peaks he crossed the moors
He slew six Saxon lords
He made his name before that day
And that I sing today
The tale is not so often heard
It's not a tales so known
In bygone days in time long past
The tale I first did hear
As Merlin sung the story old
Within fair Camelot's halls
It was a bleak and gloomy day
A day so long ago
'Twas then he crossed the channel wild
To France's shores so fair
Sir Askoe ruled in power strong
With all his bands so wild
They killed and raped and looted all
A blaze of death they left
'Twas on a dull and rainy day
Sir Owain came that way
He reached the town and slept the night
And then did hear the tales
The tales of death and other ills
Did come to his fine ears
A man of courage yes he was
He could not let this pass
He told the people they should fight
They should not let this pass
He took his sword and headed off
He reached the tower wall
The guards came out to see this knight
Who walked so unafraid?
"I'm Owain," shouted out the knight
"I've come to right the wrongs"
"Come out and fight or reap the name
Of coward for all time"
Sir Owain was a man of fire
He feared neither man nor beast
He strode outside with sword in hand
And so the duel began
Six hours they fought and what a fight
The blood flowed through the streets
Sir Owain took six bloody wounds
Sir Askoe another four
Yet still another hour they fought
Till Askoe slipped and fell
Sir Owain won the battle royal
He killed the evil knight
He set the people free at last
He freed the land from fear
Sir Owain had earned his place in tales
Though few did hear this tale
He proved that courage wins the day
He changed the evil tide.
