The Prisoner in a Cell
Caught in the endless pendulum swing, caught in the inner cell
Caught in my thoughts my doubts and hate, caught in the inner cell
Hours they pass so slowly minutes never end
Days to weeks, the seconds’ spin, so they fly away
Years they spin their endless time, upon this prisoner’s cell
Thoughts to keep me company, thoughts to drive me mad
Inner conflicts war within, a prisoner in a cell,
Doors they do not keep me in, walls they don’t confine
These chains that bind come from within, they keep forever bound
A life of service could I live, a life of freedom know
Yet fear and pride have chained me down, like iron bars so strong
The doubts the constant bitterness, they grow like deadly weeds
Dark and evil clouds of gloom, they hang forever there.
A little thought so often comes that causes me despair
Some endless torment nags my soul and adds to all I feels
Yet this I knows will free me, the truth and love so pure
Yet still I cower within my cell a prisoner wrought with pain
